Offham village (1917 postmark)
Brighton. An unidentified Brighton publisher issued dark sepia collotype cards of Lewes, Rottingdean and Brighton labelled "Carlton Series, Brighton", during or just after the First World War. The cards have a glossy surface and can easily be mistaken for real photographic cards. The captions are printed in an italic script. At least two cards (Ashcombe Toll House near Lewes and Ladies Mile Road at Patcham) had previously been published as real photographics by Percival Hammond.
