Stationer, 210 High Street, Uckfield. Taylor is listed as an Uckfield stationer in Kelly's 1938 Sussex Directory, but not in earlier Directories. He had the misfortune to start up in business just before the Second World War, and, once war got under way in earnest, depressing sales, he may have quickly decided to shut up shop.

Taylor issued real photographic postcards of Uckfield with narrow white borders and handwritten captions at the base of the pictures. The cards are discretely labelled "W. G. Taylor, Uckfield" in small black capitals in the bottom corners. Two summer 1940 postmarks have been reported.

One Taylor card that has been found shows Barcombe Mills, which suggests that he may have tried to sell cards in a number of villages around Uckfield before the war interrupted his business.

Taylor's postcards are now very hard to find, and evidently sold in very small numbers.
