The shingle beach at East Wittering
Newsagent, 8 The Parade, High Street, East Wittering. Mrs. Chandler was in business in the late 1930s and issued an unremarkable series of real photographic cards of East Wittering, including the Armada Barn and the local beach. Although her name appears on the cards, she may not have been their actual publisher, merely the retailer. The cards carry 5 digit reference numbers, which suggests that the firm that manufactured them operated on a large, perhaps national, scale. Quite possibly Mrs Chandler was supplied by Photochrom, who chose for some reason not to print their name on the cards.
